 This was an absolutely gripping read from beginning to end. Mena is a strong woman who has a special gift that terrifies most people and places her in a bad light in some of her family’s eyes. She is betrayed at a very young age and the hits just keep on coming. What I love about this story is that Mena preservers she doesn’t let anyone or anything keep her down for too long. Gotta love that characteristic in anyone really. I can’t really say too much more without giving away the book but I will say this Anastasha has a way with words that will leave you breathless from anticipation, laughing at times as well as crying. This book has it all and is a definite must read in my opinion.

I went to the movies on post at Fort Polk last night, I decided that I wanted to smoke before it started, and since we got there early... I stepped outside. ( I know... Nasty habit.) But what I saw going on outside was so much worse. I was standing by my car, doing my thing when a white 4 door car drove by on the main road outside of the theater and started yelling FAT, FAT ASS! Multiple times out their windows. There were four young soldiers in the car, and they were directing their hateful remarks at this very pretty lady, wearing a blue summer dress, standing about 20 feet away from me. She was doing nothing but standing there, I think she might have been looking through her purse, because when I looked over at her, her bag was gaping open. As was her mouth. I expected her to burst out into tears, her face was pale, and she looked around to see if anyone had saw what had happened.
I will tell you the truth, I thought at first that the remarks were meant for me. I have struggled with my weight issues since I was a teen, but I am at a healthy weight now, but those feelings of being not good enough, not good looking enough, just not enough... They never go away. But I was behind my car, and out of sight of the main road when this happened. This lady in blue was the only one in an open space in the parking lot.
I expected her to cry, rage, something. But she just took a deep breath and walked into the theater.
She was brave, I would have broken down if something like that had happened to me. But the fact that hatred like that actually exists, sickens me. I was angry for her. I wanted so badly to just punch those assholes in the throat for doing that to someone.
Hate is Ugly.
Hate in any form isn't right.
And Karma is a cold bitch. I hope their tally wackers fall off for doing something like that to someone, just to make them feel horrid.
